Guarulhos International Airport near São Paulo, which opened in 1985, is located on Indigenous territory. The hangars, runways and runways were built on what was once inhabited villages and lush vegetation. Alês' family lost their home, and the river where she used to play with her long-lost sister is now polluted. Today she earns a living transporting luggage, shares her memories and collects stones, photos and dried plants. Her partner Silvia takes part in rituals in an indigenous temple and wants to move away with her daughter. O ESTRANHO blends past and present and - supported by an impressive soundtrack - combines the fictional and the documentary, as well as elements of social reality and fantasy. An archaeological project that reveals an unexpected liveliness in the face of concrete and asphalt.
